In the past, osùn (camwood powder) was rubbed on newborn babies, and jars of osùn were kept in a houses with babies. Thus, the presence of osùn indicated fertility and the existence of small children. Thus, this name signifies that the child's presence has provided a continual need for osùn. This can also be seen in a common prayer for children/fertility - Àgàn a tọwọ́ àlà bosùn - May the barren women use a clean hand to touch the camwood.
