Literally: Wealth grew a fat belly. The “wealth” referring to as “ọlá” is actually not just about affluence growing (a belly). Because here the “ọlá” is being given a subject role in which it is forced to be more than wealth or nobility – that it actually becomes a person! Thus that “wealth” referring to “ọlá” in Láyọkùn, is more about: human potential, largeness of heart, generosity of spirit (and of materials, yes), nobility, dignity, and grace becoming bigger.
