Meaning of Ìja

Ìja or Ụ̀ja, a hunting and warrior deity. He is the brother of the gods Ògún and Ọ̀ṣọ́ọ̀sì (Ẹ̀ṣọ́ùsì).

Extended Meaning

Ìja is primarily worshipped in the Èkìtì, Àkúrẹ́, Oǹdó, and Ọ̀wọ̀ regions. Some traditions regard Ìja as a female warrior deity seen as the feminine equivalent of Ògún.
