Ìtumọọ Òtúdẹ́kọ́

The elder has become (a source of) knowledge.

Àwọn àlàyé mìíràn

The Otù/Otú root signifies the bearer as a member of the Òṣùgbó society in Ogun State (Source: Babalọlá & Àlàbá: 2003), among the Ìjẹ̀bú. It is also used, as in this case, to refer to the head of such a family the same way as Olú or Ọlá or Àyàn is used to signify not just the real intended meaning but also the icon of the family; in this case, the child as a leader of the pack. According to Babalọlá & Alàbá (2003), this name can also be read to mean "My being an elder or a member of the Òsùgbó society has given me knowledge."
