This name is peculiar to the towns that worship the river deity Ọ̀gbẹ̀sẹ̀, largely in the Akure or Ekiti area where the river Ọ̀gbẹ̀sẹ̀ runs through. Ọ̀gbẹ̀sẹ̀ and their mother Olókun are both believed to be providers of children. Ọ̀gbẹ̀sẹ̀ is regarded sometimes as male and sometimes as female depending on the exact tradition.
